Back in November 2024, Simon decided that running 26.2 miles for charity would be a good idea. After 12 years straight of applying for, and failing to enter the London Marathon, Simon booked into the virtual event. The virtual marathon consists of running the full 26.2 miles marathon distance, from anywhere you want, as long as it's completed on the 27th April 2025 (Marathon day). As it's GPS-verified it can't be done on a treadmill, so Brampton Vally Way was chosen due to it's safe, flat incline and the start/finish location could be Brampton Heath pub with a car park, Sunday roast and plentiful beers on tap.

Simon trained for several months, bought the right kit, ate the right food, hired physios and a PT, but still had a knee issue at mile 16, so limped the last 8 miles, joined by some friends and family. Crossing the finishing line, Simon was greeted by a plethora of friends and family and the best news that over £1000 had been raised by the run the pay for a defibrillator for the playing fields in Ravensthorpe.
