The local playing field and pavilion in Ravensthorpe are owned by the village (as a charity) so get no funding or maintenance from the council. All upkeep is paid for via donations and events throughout the year. Along with the beer festival, our fireworks display generates needed money for the charity. With thousands spent on the fireworks and bar, it was feared that bad weather would extinguish the spark. With a week to go, the weather was horrific, apart from the actual day of the display - sunny and dry, no wind. The forecast somehow stayed true so the village came out in force to support the playing field.
